Sarah Hutchison

Sarah Hutchison is the director and founder of WRESL. Sarah is committed to the inter-institutional partnerships and experiential learning involved in what the Center for European Studies offers to students. She loves working with current students at the Center and linking them to program alumni. In her free time, she loves to hike with her husband, daughter, and their English Cream Golden Retriever littermates, Henry and Joey Mae.

Güzin Karagöz

Associate Director for WRESL

 

Güzin Karagöz is an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Political Science and Contemporary European Studies with a minor in Data Science. In addition to Turkish and English, she is conversational in German and studied abroad to strengthen her language skills as well as understanding of European politics. Born and raised in Turkey, she migrated to the United States in 2014 for one year and later again in 2018. After her own experiences as an immigrant, Karagöz has made it her goal to become an immigration attorney and help others going through the struggles that she did.

Ler Hser

Current WRESL Fellow

Ler Hser is an undergraduate student at UNC studying Health Policy and Management with a minor in German. Ler is interested in quality and accessibility in migrant health here in the Triangle, the U.S., and globally. Outside of academia, she has been an intern at Refugee Community Partnership (RCP) in Carrboro for 2+ years, and currently is the Volunteer Coordinator Intern.

 

 

 

 

Sydney Zolotorofe

Current WRESL Fellow

Sydney Zolotorofe is a third-year student from Charlotte, North Carolina majoring in Global Studies with minors in public policy and French. She is passionate about international conflict stabilization, migrant rights protection, and advancing educational equity. For the past two years, Sydney has volunteered as a “Bridge Builder” for the Refugee Community Partnership (RCP) and is currently serving as Co-President of RCP’s UNC branch at the Campus Y. She looks forward to deepening her hands-on support for the refugee and immigrant community while strengthening her advocacy skills as a WRESL Fellow.

Allison is a second-year student in the EURO-TAM excel program at Carolina. She is also pursuing a Business major and a minor in the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) Program. Allison has actively worked with the WRESL program since her first year at UNC and is looking forward to continuing into the future.
