THE TOURNEES FILM FESTIVAL – NOW SHOWING: Timbuktu

February 18, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Presented by The Dept. of Romance Studies and sponsored by the Dept. of Asian Studies and yours truly, The Tournees Film Festival are showing new French films on campus that are free and open to the public! Films are presented in French with English subtitles. Doors open at 6:00 PM sharp! Hope to see you there!

Timbuktu: Based on the 2012 jihadist siege of the titular city in Mali, this film shows a ragtag band of Islamic fundamentalists announcing their increasingly absurd list of prohibitions—no music, no sports, no socializing—to Timbuktu’s denizens, several of whom refuse to follow these strictures, no matter the consequence.
