“Social Capital over the Life-course: Social Selection in the Transition to Secondary School in Germany”

Prof. Dr. Betina Hollstein will speak on social capital over the course of one’s life, and social selection in the transition to secondary school in Germany.

This event is part of the CES 2016 Fall Friday Lecture Series.


Betina Hollstein is a Professor in the Institute of Sociology, and Director of the SOCIUM, Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy, at the University of Bremen. Her past publications and research interests have included educational processes and transitions over the life-course, social networks and social integration, and methodology development. Dr. Hollstein’s most current research project focuses on visual tools for the collection of ego network data. She received her PhD in Sociology with highest honors from the Free University of Berlin.
