Summer Day Camp for Rising 11th/12th Grade Students

Monday, July 21 – Friday, July 25, 2025

During the Center for European Studies Summer Camp, we bring the EU to YOU!

If you are a rising 11th or 12th grader, who is interested in European politics and history and transatlantic relations, we invite you to spend a week on UNC-Chapel Hill’s historic campus immersed in all things Europe. Through discussions with world-class UNC faculty and hands-on learning opportunities, you will engage with issues facing Europe, the EU, and the transatlantic relationship.  This camp will give you a deeper understanding of the social, political, cultural, and economic events that shape contemporary Europe and prepare you for future opportunities in the world of diplomacy and international relations.

The Center for European Studies houses the UNC undergraduate major in Contemporary European Studies (EURO major) and the TransAtlantic Masters (TAM) program. You will learn about the benefits of these two programs as well as majoring in Political Science, History, Global Studies, European Languages, and much more!

How You Will Benefit

              • Learn from World-Class Faculty: Discuss current events with the leading experts in Political Science, International Relations, History, and European Languages and culture.
              • Explore College Majors & Future Careers: Meet current UNC undergraduate students and MA students to learn from their experiences on campus. Hear from UNC alums currently working in diplomacy, at various NGOs, and in the private sector and how the EURO major and TAM program prepared them for and shaped their career paths.
              • Apply the Skills of Diplomacy to a Simulated Crisis: Assume the role of the Head of Government of an EU Member State and engage in diplomatic negotiations over current challenges facing the European Union during a Model EU Simulation.
              • Stand Out in College Applications: Receive a Certificate of Completion from the Center for European Studies and learn how to showcase your camp experience on your resume and college applications.
