Sophie Stevens event flyer with details available in PDF version on event page.Dr. Sophie Stevens is a Postdoctoral Researcher at King’s College, London on Language Acts and Worldmaking, a collaborative project which seeks to revive and renew teaching in modern languages in the UK. Her current research focuses on translating and investigating female dramatists, primarily from Uruguay, to explore how, through theatre, they seek to bring about cultural change. This builds on work carried out in her thesis which forms the basis of a forthcoming book, Uruguayan Theatre in Translation: Theory and Practice. She has conducted research in Argentina, Uruguay, and UNC Chapel Hill. Her research is also informed by collaborations with theatre companies and the Out of the Wings theatre collective.

Refreshments will be provided. Organized by the UNC Translation Collective.
