THE HISTORY AND CONTEXTS OF TODAY’S MIGRANTS TO EUROPE
March 1, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Niklaus Steiner, Director, Center for Global Initiatives
What is the difference between “immigrants” and “refugees,” both subsets of “migrants?” This talk will explore these differences which have important ethical and practical implications for contemporary Europe as it contends with an unprecedented flow of immigrants. It will explore national and supranational public policy implications when these terms are blurred inadvertently or deliberately, and provide a clearer understanding of the contexts of Europe’s migration crisis.
