Prof Overbeek (VU University Amsterdam) is interested in issues of governance in a globalizing world. His approach can be characterized as transnational historical materialism. In recent years, he has done research on asylum and migration issues in a European context, on political economy of unemployment and labor market restructuring in Europe, and on issues of globalization, corporate governance, and business taxation. His future work will focus on the impact of the economic crisis on the global order.
