Sigmar Gabriel is former German Vice Chancellor Foreign Minister & Economics Minister, 2013-2018 & Environment Minister, 2005-2009; long-standing SPD leader; and Chairman of the Atlantik-Brücke since 2019.
Klaus Larres (discussant) is Richard M. Krasno Distinguished Professor in the Department of History at UNC-Chapel Hill.
