Toward a Critical Zionist Vision: German-Jewish Photographers and Filmmakers in 1930s Palestine

Ofer Ashkenazi is the Director of the Richard Koebner-Minerva Center for German History at Hebrew University. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the History Department and the School of Arts at the Hebrew University. He received his PhD in History from the Hebrew University in 2006. He conducted a post-doctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, and taught at the University of Minnesota. He has served as a faculty member at the HU since the summer of 2013, teaching classes on modern German History and culture, modern European history, and visual culture. His research interests include Central European cultural and intellectual history, modern visual culture, and Jewish urban experience in twentieth-century Europe.

This event is part of the North Carolina German Studies Workshop and Seminar Series.
