“The US/UK Special Relationship: Never Very Special?” | UK Ambassador to US, Sir Christopher Meyer

November 4, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This event is organized by Professor Ted Leinbaugh, Department of English and Comparative Literature. For most updated event details and to register, visit the registration page.

The “Special Relationship” is invoked on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean by Presidents and Prime Ministers to describe the close cultural and economic ties shared by the United States and the United Kingdom. But, is it true? Is it still the case in a time of “America First” and Brexit, or has it ever been the case?

Join Sir Christopher Meyer, UNC Professor Dr. Ted Leinbaugh, and fellow UNC students for a conversation via Zoom on this topic as well as the Ambassador’s analysis of the US presidential election results. How will a new Biden administration or four more years of the Trump presidency impact the US/UK relationship?

Co-sponsored by the UNC Center for European Studies, the UNC Curriculum in Peace, War, and Defense (PWAD), the UNC Department of English and Comparative Literature, the Carolina Forum for Education and Diplomacy, and the Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy. The webinar is part of the Gillings Global Series.
